About Us

How We Began

In 2022, the Church emerged after a long period as a fellowship of believers. As the Church formed, we relocated from Gomm Park Hall to the Italian Club, and then to the Pavilion in Centennial Park, where we are now situated.

King River Church is a Safe Place

God has been calling us to build a calm, safe harbour of connection, rather than a culturally relevant centre of activity.

I believe that people long for a place to be, rather than a space to do.
A restful approach is one of our values — a sanctuary, a place of restoration and healing, and life.

Of course, first and foremost: God is calling us to be a Church that presents the Gospel [Good News] of Christ at every opportunity.
A Church that lives the Gospel of Christ.

There are certain underlying biblical aspects that we are focused upon. They are spoken of as gifts.
They are: Compassion, Hospitality, Mercy, and Generosity.

Our Church is a community, facilitating “horizontal connection.”

When I look at the instructions Christ gave us — to love God and to love our neighbour — they’re both relational.

We are working toward building an environment that allows us to be more relational.

The King River Church Pastors

We believe in the indwelling of Christ and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
We believe the fruit of the Spirit are as important as the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
We believe character is more important than charisma.
We believe that we as believers should be developing more Christlike characteristics.
We believe in the power of God’s Word to change lives.
We believe in the power of the Gospel message to bring about the conversion of sinners.
We believe in the importance of preaching the uncompromising truth found in the Bible.
We believe in the power of corporate worship of God in His Church.
We believe in Heaven and Hell.
We believe that there is salvation in no other Name but the Name of Jesus.

If you decide to come to our Church, we believe that you will be warmly welcomed, sense the presence of God, and hear a life-changing message.

Statement of Belief

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our all-sufficient rule for salvation, faith, conduct, and practice. These Scriptures are given as a basis for belief, fellowship, and ministry.

We believe in the true, living, and eternal Godhead—Creator of all things—who is infinitely perfect and has revealed Himself as one Being in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

We believe in the Lord Jesus, who is true God and true man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He died on the Cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is ever present and active in the work of convicting and regenerating the sinner, and sanctifying and guiding the believer into all truth.

We believe that God’s answer to mankind’s sinful state is found in the death of His Son upon the Cross. His sufferings and shed blood have made full atonement for the sins of the whole world, and there is no other ground for salvation. This atonement provides not only salvation but also healing.

We believe that divine healing for the body, like all redemptive blessings of God, has been provided for us through the atoning death and victorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe we are part of the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit. We work together as a team with Jesus as the Lord and Head of the Church. Our dependence is upon God, not man.

We believe in the ministry gifts of Christ: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Their function is to fulfil the entire ministry of Jesus, leading His people as His representatives, so that all believers may be unified in the faith and knowledge of Jesus, and grow up into maturity in Him.

We believe in the premillennial, imminent, and personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to gather His people unto Himself. Having this glorious hope and earnest expectation, we purify ourselves, even as He is pure, so that we may be ready to meet Him.

We believe in the privilege and responsibility of bringing tithes and offerings.
